Wildfires are one of the most catastrophic events a city or state can endure. In 2020 California and Texas ranked the states with the most amount of fires registering 10,451 and 6,713 respectively accounting for 4.092.151 acres burned only in the state of California 20 times the national average according to the National Interagency Fire Center, damaging or destroying 10,500 structures and killing 33 people.

According to the U.S. Department of Interior, 90 percent of wildland fires in the country are caused by people as the result from campfires left unattended, the burning of debris, downed power lines, negligently discarded cigarettes and intentional acts of arson. The other 10 percent are started by natural causes such as lightning or lava.
